And… And… And…

Sometimes it seems like the list is unending. Do this… and do this… and do this… In a culture that seems to glamorize busy-ness and completely full schedules, a frenetic pace of activity can become overwhelming. And then we turn to our Bibles for a respite only to find another list: and… and… and… The specifics are important, but what if we could summarize many items into an over-arching principle that would guide us in how we think, decide, or act? Wouldn’t that be extremely helpful? Isn’t that similar to what Jesus did when he was asked about the greatest of the commandments? He summarized the entirety of the Law and the Prophets into two.

We’ve been investigating the Game Plan as delivered to the Colossians, and as we continue in chapter three, there are lists—long lists—of things to do or not do. They can seem overwhelming. Yet the guiding principles are there as summary statements also. Join us this week as we look into what it means to “do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus” (Col 3:17).
